Scout Sunday

Today was Scout Sunday. I was proud of our boys for wearing their uniforms. They looked great. I was also proud to wear my ribbion with all my mother's pins. I had quiet a few comments about how many pins I have! I guess that is the blessing of having so many sons. By the way Isaac took the picture with me in it, not bad for a 5 year old!

Risk and Pizza Party

Ashton loves to play the game RISK. He decided it would be fun to have a party with some friends and play the game. When Isaac heard about this, he thought that a Video Game party was a great idea too. In the end we had 11 boys (including our own) ages 5 and up over on Saturday for a great time. I also need to mention that during part of the party, Kaleb went running for 12 miles, Skyler tagged along on his unicycle with the dog. Kona ran the entire 12 miles! He came home pretty tired, but was ready to go in about 30 minutes. Can you imagine having that much energy to burn! It was loud and crazy at our house , and it about drove our dog to insanity but the boys had a great time.

Isaac and the Treasure Box

During our week without 'screens' Isaac got excited to paint his treasure box. His Grandad Martin made it for him at Christmas time. We had a fun afternoon painting, and even managed to not make a huge mess. Now Isaac will have a place to save all those treasures that little boys like to save! That will make both Isaac and his mom very happy!

Pinewood Derby 2010

Ashton had a fun time designing his pinewood derby car this year. Since he is a Webelo, Todd had Ashton do most of the work while he supervised. Ashton's car received an award for "Most Modern Design" It was a fun night, now Todd can breathe easy for 2 more years until it will be Isaac's turn in cub scouts. In the end Todd will have helped our son's with at least 12 pinewood derby cars !

Kaleb Speaks at a Friends of Scouting Breakfast

Kaleb was asked to speak at our local Friends of Scouting fundraising breakfast about how the scouting program has helped him. He was able to talk about some memorable scouting experiences and thank those who have helped him earn his Eagle Scout award. He talked about his Grandpa Rick and his support and encouragement. He did a great job!

Isaac dressed up like David

Our Primary had an Activity Day where the children were to come dressed as someone from the scriptures. At first Isaac wanted to be a bad guy like Laman. I wasn't sure how I felt about that, but after talking to Isaac about some of his favorite scripture stories he decided on David. It helped that Skyler lent him is sling, and we made 'rocks' out of tinfoil. It was a fun activity.

What's New?

Well our family participated in a 'un-plugged' challenge that Todd gave to the youth in our ward. He challenged them to go without any electronic media for one week. (Computer- except for homework-texting,ipods,blogging, TV etc..) I thought we noticed some positive things around our house. Well at least after first few days of withdrawal. I started noticing that the kids played board games together, visited more in the evening, and we had more quiet time. I really noticed it when the kids were gone to school and I had no music, or TV or computer time it was hard but nice too! It was a really good experiment. We've decided to have at least one media free day per week from now on. The bad news was when I returned to the computer world, I was overwhelmed with e-mail. It was a busy week last week so I never made it to updating either of my blogs, so I will try to get you up to date on what's been going on!
